Certificate Program The Certificate Program is designed for recent college graduates, career changers, and those who currently work in museums.

Practicum Each M. A sampling of recent Museum Education practicum include: Working with the manager of interpretation and visitor services at the USS Constitution Museum , one student conducted research, analyzed the data, and redesigned the museum's website to prepare families to engage with the museum's content and each other at the museum.

During the two-semester, paid internship she conducted classroom and in-museum activities, managed facilitators, and designed and tested a new set of activities. To gain more experience with teen audiences, a student worked with Danforth Art's teen docent program participants to create activities for family audiences. She helped the director of education develop a plan to sustain the teen docent program. Already an experienced informal science educator, another student wanted exposure to a different type of museum.

At the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum she developed and facilitated programs that helped families explore artworks. Ability to plan and implement museum-school and public programs from concept, curriculum development, budgeting and marketing to teaching and evaluation Understanding of the importance of evaluation and basic skills in designing and conducting evaluation studies Ability to write for a variety of audiences at different learning and reading levels Ability to advocate for an idea, project, or program to colleagues, donors, and funding agencies Application of skills and knowledge gained through coursework to the real-world setting of a museum.

The program requires completion of eleven courses, including five required museum studies courses, a supervised museum internship, two required education courses, and four electives relating to the student's area of interest. Part-Time Track for Working Professionals Using a trimester format for graduate coursework, the part-time MA in Museum Education program allows working professionals to work full-time while attending courses in the evening, on weekends, and online allowing completion of the program in two to three years.

Requirements are the same as full-time study.
