Driver igfx has stopped working and recovered

It took a while but installed and so far so good, but I now have this situation in Dev Manager:. So re-enabled driver updates, turned off Internet, and uninstalled the drivers. My repeated attempts previously to install the old drivers, seemed to have driven Windows to find that driver automatically when offline and install that one!

Things might be OK for now.. Also the second entry of the display adapter has disappeared.. It still occurs after events in Edit 2 , so I needed to revert to the latest drivers for now as my crashes are not so frequent.

So after some time, prior to the last round of Windows Updates, can confirmed that the problem never returned with the Presumably with the last round of Windows 10 Updates, I've since noticed that Intel Graphics driver version Seems to be still OK and haven't been able to repeat the Driver crashes under that version either. My system event log is flooded with Event "IGFX stopped responding and has successfully recovered" and frankly has rendered the computer unusable Have tried I am simply not getting any resolution to this.

It almost looks like as if I unplugged the displayport cable from my laptop and plugged it back in. However, sometimes it shows up in Event Viewer as event ID Display driver igfx stopped respond and has successfully recovered , or not at all. When this happens, Discord detects that I have a "new audio output" probably my laptop's Intel audio , but I haven't done anything to my cable where it could've been damaged.

Also, the graphics driver doesn't "crash". I was playing a game yesterday, and it didn't crash, only the screen turned black, turned back on, and I saw the displayport logo on my monitor like when you switch monitor sources. The game resumed normally. Like I said before, sometimes this gets logged in Event Viewer, sometimes I race to the logs and I find nothing there. I tried looking at the time the Intel graphics stopped working, but found nothing that could've affected igfx.

The only logs I saw at the time was a new logon and my laptop's touchpad started up again. Updated Intel graphics through device manager, then found a newer generic one online, and installed it. I have rolled back to the device manager one since. It happened when I was playing a game which utilized Nvidia gfx , but didn't crash the game.

Maybe I'm not looking deep enough into logs? At this point, what I can recommend you to do if possible is to re-install the operating system. If after doing so, the error stops then it means it was an error with the O. S, if the issue continues then it would mean that there is a problem with the processor and we would replace it for you as long as it's within warranty period. I unplugged all drives, plugged in an empty SSD, installed Win10 , installed Intel drivers, installed Firefox, ran web. At this point, I would recommend you to either contact your Intel local support directly via phone, chat or else create a ticket. I have sent you an e-mail to the e-mail registered in your account with your ticket number for this issue which you can reference when you contact our live support directly.

FYI, I replaced the processor, and the problem did not appear any more. Thanks again for your assistance. I'm in the same boat now. Please find attached the SSU report. Preview file. Hello OGrah, Just confirming a few details here: Does the issue occur frequently or is it a random issue? Do you have the latest system BIOS for your computer? Does the issue happen when your monitor is set to a particular setting?

I will use this information to see which route we can take to troubleshoot this issue.
