Examinations generally consist of 1—2 components, typically a written examination component followed by an applied component Two Years of Practice in Canada In order to get certified by the Royal College, an applicant must have success at their specialty exam and complete two years of practice in Canada as an independent specialist.
The Royal College does not grant licenses to practice. Canada has 13 MRAs who issue licenses. It is the responsibility of the applicant to complete these two years of practice in Canada, the Royal College cannot assist in finding job placements in Canada. In Canada, the course of study to become a doctor involves a four-year MD program at a medical school within a university. You should note that attending medical schools in Canada is not the only way of becoming a doctor in Canada.
For instance, you can attend Caribbean medical schools, there is a way for you to practice in Canada. It is taken at the end of medical studies and before the residency. You can then apply for residency through the Canadian Residency Matching Service.
However, be aware that different provinces in Canada have their own additional eligibility requirements for residents, especially for international students. You might be required to take additional steps to verify your foreign medical degree or agree to practice for a specific amount of time only.
